Introductory Workshop to the LA/LAS Ecosystem Held at Maastricht University

An introductory workshop dedicated to the LA/LAS ecosystem took place on 24–26 February 2025 at Maastricht University and its University College Maastricht (UCM).
The three-day event brought together project partners to discuss key aspects of Liberal Arts and Liberal Arts and Sciences education, including different LAS models, interdisciplinary programmes, student government and community building, course registration and scheduling, staffing models, financial management, and governance structures.
Throughout the workshop, representatives of EU and Ukrainian partner institutions exchanged experience, presented institutional approaches, and discussed possibilities for implementing LA/LAS programmes in the Ukrainian higher education context. Particular attention was devoted to cooperation between paired EU–UA institutions and the development of individual programme concepts.
The workshop also included group discussions, practical sessions, campus activities, and reflections on lessons learned, contributing to stronger cooperation among partners and further development of the project initiatives.
