Ukrainian students support interdisciplinary education based on the Liberal Arts and Sciences model
As part of the Erasmus+ LibArt_UA project, a survey (Result 5.1) was conducted among 685 final-year students from five Ukrainian universities. The aim was to determine how well the principles of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) align with contemporary educational expectations.
The results showed that:
Nearly half of the respondents (47%) believe that graduates with a broad interdisciplinary background will have better prospects in the labour market.
The most important competencies identified by students include critical thinking, creativity, teamwork skills, digital skills, and intercultural communication.
At the same time, only 42% of students reported having the opportunity to influence the content of their courses, indicating limited possibilities for shaping individual educational pathways.
The majority of respondents (70%) expressed readiness for interactive and practice-oriented learning methods, emphasising the need to combine theory with real-life cases and digital tools.

Conclusion
The survey confirms the relevance of implementing LAS programmes in Ukraine. Students expect universities to offer greater flexibility, innovation, and a stronger focus on developing “soft skills”, which will serve as a foundation for launching new bachelor’s programmes in 2026.
