German and European Studies
Joint Cooperation of “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” and Jena University
The Cooperation Programme “German and European Studies”, led by “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” and Jena University (Germany), announces the provision of three scholarships for Postgraduate/PhD
students.
The scholarships include a 3 month full-time research and teaching visit at Jena University (from October 2010 until December 2010). Each scholarship is funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and includes a monthly grant sufficient to cover all living expenses in Germany and a travel allowance.
Who can apply?
NaUKMA Postgraduate and PhD students from the disciplines of political
science, sociology, history, philosophy, cultural studies, law and
economics with a topic relevant to German and European Studies can apply.
Requirements/ Application Procedure
Candidates are encouraged to submit their applications including a CV, a letter of motivation and a research proposal until 28th of May 2010.
The research proposal (not more than 5 pages) should cover the following aspects besides the usual contents (research questions, theoretical approach, methods etc.):
- On which aspects of the research project will the applicant focus during her/ his stay in Jena
- A brief outline in German
- How much of the research project is (already) completed
- A list of possible contacts for consultations concerning the research project
The research and teaching experience gained shall prepare for a future teaching position in the joint German speaking Master's programme. Therefore, applicants should proof basic German and good English language proficiency. Please acknowledge that it is part of our programme that awarded applicants will be further integrated.
Applications can be sent by e-mail to dsg.naukma@gmail.com. The selection process is totally anonymous and consists basically of two stages: unnamed research proposals are sent to professors at the Department of Political Science of FSU; if any professor demonstrates their interest
in the research, they are provided with the applicants CV. The final decision is taken by a committee of professors of Department of Political Science of FSU and representatives of
NaUKMA. Candidates can be invited for a selection interview at the beginning of June. Successful candidates will be informed about the final decision no later then end of June.
