Edmund S. Muskie Graduate Fellowship Program (Muskie)
Academic year 2005 – 2006, U. S. A.

The Edmund S. Muskie Graduate Fellowship Program, funded by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, US Department of State, provides opportunities for Master’s level study in the United States in one of the following fields:
· Business Administration
· Economics
· Education
· Environmental Management
· International Affairs
· Journalism and Mass Communications
· Law
· Library and Information Science
· Public Administration
· Public Health
· Public Policy
Master’s applicants may apply for one-year non-degree, one year degree or two-year degree programs in the above fields. The selection committee, the Department of State, and IREX will make the final decision as to length and type of program. Fellows may not choose their own host university or college.
Fellows will:
· Enroll in fulltime academic coursework for up to two years
· Create and implement a project during the first academic year that benefits the local community.
· Take part in internships following academic coursework.
NOTE! The Muskie program also provides limited opportunities for doctoral study of approximately four years in the United States in the fields of business administration, economics, public administration, and public policy.
SELECTION PROCESS AND CRITERIA
Chosen semi-finalists will be interviewed in their home country by a bi-national committee of US academic specialists, program alumni, and US embassy representatives, and must take TOEFL, as well as the GRE or GMAT, if applicable, in early 2005.
All applicants will be notified of their status in spring 2005. Fellowships will begin in August 2005.
