University of Toronto invites GRADUATE STUDENTS to submit Papers "Europe’s Eastern Enlargement: Security, Citizenship, and Coexistence"

Europe’s Eastern Enlargement: Security, Citizenship, and Coexistence
February 10th and 11th, 2005
The Centre for Russian and East European Studies (CREES) at the Munk Centre for International Studies, University of Toronto, will be hosting an interdisciplinary graduate student conference concerning the future direction of policy-making and security in Europe.
You are invited to submit papers dealing with any of the following broad issue areas:
Civil Society and Citizenship - the flow of westerly migration, state brain-drains, transnational social capital, and increased nationalist sentiments in a supra-national arena.
Political and Economic Security -the evolution of a common foreign and security policy, internal and external Schengen issues, Acquis Communautaire, inexpensive foreign labour competition, further enlargement, foreign investment.
Minorities and Diversity - ethnic pluralism, gender, nationalist and ultra right-wing political parties, language.
Submissions
The conference is open to graduate students. Those wishing to present a paper drawn from course work or dissertation research should send a curriculum vitae, contact information, and 300 word abstract.
Applications should be received by November 26th, 2004 and selected panelists will be notified by December 8th, 2004. Each participant will be allowed to present on one panel only.
