High-level University Year to Gain Excellence in the Netherlands

Academic year 2005-2006

Programme offers outstanding foreign students an opportunity to study for a period of between three and ten months at a Dutch university or hogeschool (university of professional education) or at one of the eligible research institutes in the Netherlands.

Huygens scholarships are meant for students who are nearing completion of their studies or have recently graduated.

Requirements for eligibility
• intend to pursue a specialization at a higher education institution recognized by the Dutch government or at a research institute doing work related to your academic work at home;
• have been accepted for admission to a Dutch higher education institution or research institute;
• have earned at least a bachelors degree or its equivalent before 1 September 2005;
• have graduated no longer than two years ago, or be working on a PhD in your own country;
• as of 1 September 2005, not have spent more than one year already studying at a Dutch higher education institution;
• be able to offer evidence that you are sufficiently skilled in speaking and writing the language in which the course is taught (generally Dutch or English);
• be no older than 35 years old at the start of the period in the Netherlands;

A scholarship includes
• a monthly allowance
• a single payment meant to cover travel costs from your own country to the Netherlands and then back home
• exemption from the statutory tuition fee at Dutch higher education institutions
• medical insurance premiums
• costs of obtaining permission to reside in the Netherlands: the authorization for temporary stay (MVV) and the residence permit (VTV).
Note! Your application for a Huygens scholarship, complete with copies of all the required documents, must be submitted to the Dutch embassy.

1615 - Kyiv-Mohyla brotherhood school, later turned into Collegium, was founded
