NaUKMA: REVOLUTIONARY CHRONICLE
NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF "KYIV-MOHYLA ACADEMY":
FOR FREEDOM AND DEMOCRACY,
AGAINST LAWLESSNESS AND FALCIFICATIONS
MILESTONES
On November 23, 2004 the students, faculty and staff members of the National University of "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy" announced their decision to join the all-Ukrainian movement in defense of the Constitutional right of the Ukrainian citizens to make a free choice and declared a political strike. Read the DECLARATION OF THE STUDENTS, FACULTY AND STAFF MEMBERS OF THE NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF "KYIV-MOHYLA ACADEMY"
On November 25, 2004 the NaUKMA community initiated a WE ARE GOING movement: THEY THOUGHT WE WOULD KEEP MUTE? NO WAY! CORRUPTED POWER WILL HEAR OUR VOICES! A column of thousand of NaUKMA students, faculty and staff members, led by the NaUKMA President Vyacheslav Bryukhovetsy, day by day leaves the University campus for the "hottest" points where the fate of Ukraine is being decided. Among the NaUKMA "orange" column destinations are: Maidan Nezalezhnosti, Verkhovna Rada, Embassy of Russian Federation, Ministries of Education, Foreign and Internal Affairs etc. For the day by day itinerary please check the NaUKMA: REVOLUTIONARY CHRONICLE.
We are going!
We are strong on our march!
Our hearts are hot!
Our minds are open!
Our demands: respect the nation and to its choice.
THEY THOUGHT WE WOULD KEEP MUTE? NO WAY!
CORRUPTED POWER WILL HEAR OUR VOICES!
JOIN US! TOGETHER WE SHALL WIN!
On December 1, 2004 a new stage of the NaUKMA movement WE ARE GOING (initiated on November 25) is announced. The action entitled FROM THE FIRST HAND is aiming to spread truth (based on the NaUKMA students and faculty personal impressions, observations etc.) on the situation in Kyiv and Ukraine among the relatives, friends and colleagues, living outside the capital and the country. First of all we are trying to reach people in Russia, Prydnistrovian Moldavian Republic, Eastern and Northern regions of Ukraine (Luhansk, Donetsk, Kharkiv oblasts, Crimean Autonomous Republic), as well as those in rural regions of Ukraine where there is still a lack of information sources.
On December 1, 2004 the NaUKMA community made a decision to change the tactics of the NaUKMA strike. Now our strategy is: WE ARE STRIKING TO THE VICTORY AND WE ARE GOING:
- to the future - we are persistent in our decision to become highly educated people. That is why we are renewing our studies - starting from today the classes are being scheduled from 8:30 a.m. till 1:00 p.m.;
- to Maidan - starting from today the NaUKMA column is leaving the University at 2:00 p.m. and marching towards the city center to support the all-Ukrainian movement for democracy and freedom;
- to the tent town on Khreschatyk - we are continuing our strike and our struggle;
- to the history - our first-hand impressions written down, talks and interviews with people from all over Ukraine recorded should become a basis for the Orange Revolution chronicle.
On December 8, 2004 Academy is proclaiming the end of the political strike!
The results of the falsified elections are rejected and the Academy is renewing the normal class schedule. President Bryukhovetsky is announcing this on the main "orange" stage at Maidan - the same place where he was proclaiming the beginning of the NaUKMA political strike.
Many NaUKMA students, faculty and staff members are now preparing to work as official observers, members of the local elective committees, journalists, translators, and volunteers to provide the fair course of the 3rd round of the President elections.
NAUKMA IS GATHERING MATERIALS AND ARTIFACTS FOR THE MUSEUM OF THE ORANGE REVOLUTION
WHICH WILL BE OPENING SOON ON ITS PREMISES.
EVERYBODY is welcome to bring EVERYTHING
connected with the 'revolutionary' days and realities!
